A shooting in Mission this afternoon ended in a high-risk takedown and hostage situation in Coquitlam.
Three suspects are now in custody while a woman, believed to have been shot at a home on Dewdney Trunk Road, is recovering from non-life threatening injuries. Another woman who was being held against her will was located safely in the suspect vehicle without incident and suffered no injuries, according to Mission RCMP.
The incident began at 1 p.m. with a drive-by shooting at a residence on Dewdney Trunk, where officers found a person who received a gunshot wound and learned another had been kidnapped.
Mission Mounties brought in police helicopter Air 1, the Real Time Intelligence Centre, Police Dog Services as well as the detachment's investigators and Serious Crime Unit.
With the assistance of the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team and Coquitlam RCMP officers, police stopped the suspect vehicle on David Avenue just east of Oxford Street.
Shortly after those in the Chevy Cavalier were taken away ERT officers could be seen removing a shotgun from the trunk of the vehicle. Mission RCMP said a number of firearms were seized in the incident.
RCMP located the residence where the woman had been held against her will and the investigation is continuing.
Another incident involving ERT members at a home in the Prairie Avenue and Glade area Tuesday afternoon is not believed to be related to the David Avenue incident.
More to come.
